Legion Scotland and Poppy Scotland are delighted to announce a special concert taking place at the Usher Hall, Edinburgh on Tuesday 6th May 2025. The concert will be titled Scotland’s Salute to VE Day Anniversary Concert and will be Scotland’s national commemorative event to mark the historic events that took place 80 years ago to the day.
The event will be narrated by Major (Retd) Alasdair Hutton OBE TD, previously the voice of the world renowned Edinburgh Military Tattoo, with BFBS’s own Mark Mckenzie acting as the evenings compere.

We will mark Scottish American Memorial Day with a memorial service lead by the Reverend Peter Sutton AKC BD MTh PGCC, Minister of The Parish Church of St. Cuthbert on Monday 26th May at 1:00pm from The Call Memorial, Princes Street Gardens.
“The Call” memorial inside Princess Street Gardens, Edinburgh, was erected in 1927 and funded by Americans of Scottish descent who wanted to recognise the bravery and sacrifice of Scottish Soldiers during World War One.

City of Edinburgh marks the start of Armed Forces Week with the raising of the Armed Forces Day Flag at City Chambers with representatives of Legion Scotland and our Armed Forces.

Armed Forces Day will be celebrated with a parade along George St in Edinburgh, to St Andrews Square where an address and programme of entertainment will take place along with refreshments available to all veterans taking part.

1015 Charity stalls open within St Andrew Square
